Netflix's German-language dark comedy thriller 'Murder Mindfully' has returned for a second season after a one-year break. The series, which originally aired in 2024, spent three weeks in the Global Top 10 and became one of the highest-rated non-English language shows on the platform.
The show follows Björn Diemel, a lawyer indebted to a mafia boss, who turns to a mindfulness coach but takes an unexpected dark path. The second season sees Björn having quit his stressful job and gone self-employed, while secretly acting as legal representative for two mafia clans whose bosses he has 'mindfully' made disappear. He now manages their affairs with the help of Sascha, a mafioso with a degree in educational sciences who runs the kindergarten above Björn's office.
The synopsis teases that Björn is plagued by inner unrest, and his mindfulness coach identifies unresolved conflicts from his childhood as the cause. As Björn tries to heal these wounds, he must also deal with the usual challenges of life, discovering that his inner work has practical consequences for his darker activities.
Fans have praised the series, with one calling it 'a vibe' and another recommending it as 'a brilliant black comedy'. Critics note that the second season continues to be unpredictable, balancing satire, thriller and emotions, though sometimes becoming messy.
The cast includes Tom Schilling as Björn, Emily Cox as his wife Katharina, and Peter Jordan as the mindfulness coach. New additions for season two include Michael Ihnow, Sascha Alexander Geršak, Amer El-Erwadi, and others.
