The Irish black comedy series 'Obituary', which has achieved a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is set to arrive on the free UK streaming platform ITVX next month.
The show, starring Siobhán Cullen as obituary writer Elvira Clancy, first premiered in 2023 on RTE. Both seasons will be available on ITVX from May 24. The series is also currently available on Netflix.
The plot follows Clancy, who writes obituaries for a local newspaper. When her payment structure changes to 'pay-per-death', she discovers a hidden talent and ambition for murder. The second season sees her dealing with grief after her father's death by killing again, but another serial killer in town raises suspicions against her.
Fans have praised the series, with one calling it 'wickedly smart, darkly funny, and way more heartfelt than it has any right to be'. Another viewer described it as 'a macabre story with underlying comedy'.
Cullen revealed her own fascination with graveyards, saying she finds it interesting to see what families choose to have written on headstones. She also admitted to writing mock obituaries for crew members as parting gifts during filming.
