Damien Molony Takes Wheel of Iconic Triumph in Bergerac Reboot

UKTV has released new photos of Damien Molony in the upcoming reboot of the 1980s detective drama Bergerac. The Split star takes on the role of Detective Jim Bergerac, previously portrayed by John Nettles in the original BBC series that ran from 1981 to 1991.

Fans will be delighted to see a returning character in the reboot, with the new photos showing Molony seated in the detective's red 1947 Triumph Roadster. Speaking about the car's legacy, Molony said: 'When people talk about Bergerac, two things immediately spring to mind: Jersey, and the car. We’ve recently wrapped on filming, and I’ve had the best time stepping into the role of Jim Bergerac – I’ve even had the privilege of getting behind the wheel of the iconic Triumph Roadster.'

The rebooted Bergerac features an all-star supporting cast, including Zoë Wanamaker and Philip Glenister. Wanamaker will play Bergerac's mother-in-law Charlie, who is concerned he is putting the job before his daughter Kim during a distressing time for the family. Viewers will be introduced to a broken Bergerac turning to drink after the recent death of his wife.

'When a woman from a wealthy Jersey family is murdered, Jim must fight through his personal struggles to become the formidable investigator he once was,' reads the official synopsis. 'With a troublesome convict resurfacing from his past, Bergerac is required to call on his sharp investigative instincts and past successes to navigate the intricate family dynamics, and watchful eyes of the police force, in order to solve the case.'

Unlike the original series, the new Bergerac will focus on one character-led murder mystery spanning all six episodes, instead of a new storyline each episode. Bergerac is a brand-new U&Original show and will air on U and U&Drama in 2025.
