A new crime drama from the creator of Power has stormed into the number two spot on Netflix UK's TV chart, just days after its release. Nemesis, created by Courtney A. Kemp and Tani Marole, premiered on 14th May and has quickly captivated audiences, outperforming hits like Man on Fire and true crime series such as Should I Marry a Murderer?.
The eight-part series follows LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division Lieutenant Isaiah Stiles, played by Matthew Law, as he pursues career criminal Coltrane Wilder, portrayed by Y'lan Noel. The plot kicks off with a daring heist in Los Angeles that reopens old wounds, leading to an intense game of cat-and-mouse between the two rivals.
Despite a Rotten Tomatoes audience score of just 49 percent, critics have been far more favourable, awarding the show a 90 percent rating. Fans have taken to social media and review sites to express their enthusiasm, with one RT user stating, 'Kept me engaged and not sure whose side I was on. Binge watched twice. I need season 2.' Another IMDb reviewer called it 'a masterpiece' and said they 'pray they have a season 2.'
Netflix has not yet confirmed a second season, but co-creator Marole revealed to Decider that he and Kemp 'have an arc in mind' for a follow-up. He urged viewers to boost the show's numbers, saying, 'We need the numbers to go up so we can get a renewal.'
