Coronation Street's Debbie Webster Faces Family Betrayal Amid Dementia Battle

Debbie Webster was left devastated after discovering a family betrayal in Wednesday's episode of Coronation Street. The hotel owner, played by Sue Devaney, confronted her brother Kevin (Michael Le Vell) after learning he had lied about being cancer-free for months.

Earlier in the week, Abi Webster (Sally Carman) slept with her brother-in-law Carl after discovering Kevin's deception. When Debbie confronted Abi about mistreating Kevin, Abi revealed the truth about his cancer lies. Furious, Debbie disowned Kevin, telling him: 'I hope you hold onto your wife, because you've just lost your sister.'

Debbie, who was diagnosed with vascular dementia earlier this year, also realised Carl was complicit in the lie. Despite the revelation, Debbie and Kevin remain unaware of Abi's infidelity. Carl, who recently arrived on the cobbles, is Kevin's half-brother from their father Bill's second marriage.

In real life, actor Jonathan Howard, who plays Carl, said landing a role in Coronation Street was a dream come true. The 38-year-old, who previously worked with Hollywood stars, told The Mirror: 'As a Lancashire lad born and raised, the dream was to be in Coronation Street – that was the ceiling.'
