Coronation Street Star Lucy Fallon Warns Fans Will Not Like Bethany Platt's New Plot
Corrie Star Warns Fans Won't Like Bethany's New Storyline

Coronation Street actress Lucy Fallon has issued a stark warning to fans of the long-running ITV soap, revealing that her character Bethany Platt is set to embark on a controversial new storyline that will not paint her in a favourable light.

Secret Plot Details Teased by Actress

While speaking at the Grand National Festival at Aintree Racecourse, Fallon confessed that something significant is in the works for Bethany Platt, though she remains tight-lipped about specific details. The actress emphasised that this upcoming plot development is currently top secret, but she did offer a crucial insight: fans are unlikely to be pleased with Bethany's actions.

Character Blame and Viewer Reaction

Fallon hinted strongly that whatever transpires in this new storyline will be "Bethany's fault," suggesting the character will deserve any negative reactions from viewers. She even predicted that audiences might describe Bethany as unpleasant following these developments. Despite this anticipated backlash, the actress appears unfazed about portraying controversial material.

"I don't think people are going to be happy about it," Fallon stated during her interview. "This one is low-key her fault. Everyone is going to be like, 'She is a d**k.' Which is fine."

Actress's Approach to Challenging Storylines

Lucy Fallon explained that she has one primary condition for taking on difficult storylines: the plot must be well-written and compelling. She expressed enthusiasm for diving into substantial material, regardless of how it might affect her character's popularity with viewers.

"I don't mind what it [her storyline] is as long as it's a good one," Fallon shared. "Being in the Platts is a good family to be in. It's an amazing honour to get a storyline, I don't take it for granted at all."

Personal Viewing Habits Revealed

In a surprising revelation, Fallon admitted that she does not watch Coronation Street episodes, including those featuring her own performances. This is not due to any dislike of the show but rather a personal preference against viewing her own work.

"I don't actually watch Coronation Street," she explained. "Not because I don't like it, but because I don't like to watch anything I do. Some people like to watch themselves, but I've never ever liked it."

Despite this, Fallon expressed deep affection for the program and her colleagues, describing the Coronation Street set as her "second home" where she has spent more time than in her own residence.

Recent Character Developments

This warning about Bethany's upcoming storyline follows recent concerns among fans about the character's safety. Viewers had worried that Bethany might become the next target of villain Jodie Ramsey after she showed suspicion about Jodie's behaviour and attempted to expose her.

However, Bethany ultimately decided to drop her investigation into Jodie, leaving her current situation somewhat unresolved as this new controversial plot begins to unfold.

Coronation Street continues to air weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with viewers now eagerly awaiting to discover what challenging developments await Bethany Platt in the coming episodes.
