Coronation Street actress Katie McGlynn has issued a heartfelt warning to fans ahead of her character Sinead Tinker's death from cervical cancer, which airs on Friday night. The 26-year-old star shared an emotional Instagram post featuring a quote from her alter ego, writing: 'If I've learnt one thing in my 25 years on this planet, nice can change the world.'
McGlynn also took to Twitter to bid farewell to Sinead after seven years on the cobbles, thanking fans for their support. She admitted she found it difficult to watch recent scenes where Sinead's life slowly ebbed away, saying the storyline taught her to appreciate the small things in life, such as feeling rain on her skin.
The tragic plot has seen Sinead battle cervical cancer for months, with recent episodes revealing she had little time left. In her final days, she recorded video messages for her baby son Bertie, realising she would miss his milestones. She also forgave husband Daniel for kissing Bethany Platt, joking she would return as a poltergeist if he didn't step up as a father.
McGlynn previously spoke on Loose Women about the toll filming took on her mental health, saying she immersed herself so deeply in the role that she couldn't watch the final scenes again after a press screening.
