Coronation Street actress Vicky Myers, who plays Lisa Swain, has opened up about the character's future with Carla Connor after their recent split. Speaking to the Mirror, Myers revealed that Lisa is 'numb' and 'confused' following the breakup, but her love for Carla remains strong. 'The relationship that she's experienced, the family dynamic, the maturity that's been brought out in Betsy since Carla has been in her life... her family was complete as far as Lisa was concerned and then this bomb went off and shattered everything,' Myers said.
Myers also addressed the possibility of Lisa reuniting with her ex, Becky Swain, who has been trying to sabotage Lisa and Carla's relationship. She hinted that Becky may finally face consequences for her actions. 'There are definitely some doubts creeping in because Becky's story doesn't add up with how freely she's walking around,' Myers explained, noting that Lisa is a detective and is starting to question Becky's narrative.
The actress expressed hope that Lisa will see through Becky's lies, especially with the growing trust between Lisa and colleague Kit Green. 'I think there's a lot that's unsaid and unspoken between the two of them... Lisa sees a lot of herself in him and she knows he's a more than competent detective,' Myers said, suggesting that Kit could help Lisa uncover the truth.
Myers praised Amy Cudden, who plays Becky, for her portrayal of a 'fantastic villain' and added: 'Everyone loves it when the villain gets their comeuppance, so let's hope that is the case.' Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
