Coronation Street villain Ross Wilkes is set to extend his toxic influence beyond the Dobbs household, turning his attention to Summer Spellman in upcoming scenes. The long-lost father of Tyrone Dobbs has already caused devastation within the family, but now he is using his position as a prison guard to target Summer.
Ross's history is dark: he took advantage of Tyrone's mother, Cassie Plummer, when she was a 15-year-old drug addict by paying her for sex. His presence near the family proved unbearable for Cassie, who tried to make him leave, but Ross manipulated the situation to make her appear the villain in Tyrone's eyes. This ultimately led to Cassie's departure and possible murder.
Ross's Grip on the Dobbs Family
Since then, Ross has embedded himself in the household, exerting influence over both Tyrone and his son Dorin. He even tried to force Dorin into boxing, and later attempted the same with Tyrone. While Tyrone dismisses his father's behaviour as that of 'a dinosaur', Fiz is not convinced. She suspects Ross is involved in Cassie's disappearance and was angered to discover Ross had convinced Tyrone to bar Hope and Ruby from boxing due to sexism.
Matters escalated when Ross goaded Tyrone into punching Chesney Brown during a heated row, an act that shocked the community. Until now, Ross's toxic influence has been confined to the Dobbs household, but that is about to change.
Summer's Vulnerable Position
Summer Spellman has already endured a turbulent time recently, after her new boyfriend Marco Rhodes was arrested for being a getaway driver in a robbery. Marco is currently sharing a cell with Gary Windass, who is serving eight months for helping Sarah Platt cover up the killing of Theo.
Ross, as the prison guard, begins to abuse his authority over Marco to target Summer. In the cell, Gary notices a gash on Marco's arm, but Marco plays it down. Later, Summer and Maria Connor arrive at the prison for visiting hours, only for the guard to report that Marco won't come out of his cell. Maria begs Gary not to get involved when he expresses worry that Marco is being bullied.
A Sinister Plan Unfolds
Summer later finds Ross in the Rovers and is grateful when he offers to keep an eye on Marco. Ross continues his 'nice guy' routine by telling Marco he has put his name down for a cleaning job to keep him occupied. However, his tune changes when he finds Marco alone in his cell, and during their next visit, Summer tells Marco he is lucky to have Ross on his side. Marco nods in agreement, unaware of the truth.
Ross's true colours emerge when he spots a card from Summer in Marco's cell and rips it to pieces, signalling his sinister intentions towards Summer are only beginning.
