Coronation Street fans believe that Sarah Platt may not have been the one to kill Theo Silverton, with a new theory suggesting someone close to her finished him off. While Sarah, played by Tina O'Brien, was arrested last week on suspicion of murder, speculation continues that a twist will reveal she did not deal the final blow.
Sarah's arrest and confession
Sarah was arrested after the builder's body was found by Betsy Swain on the night of her mother Lisa's wedding to Carla Connor. Last month, it was revealed that Sarah appeared to push a drunk Theo off scaffolding outside his flat before calling her ex, Gary Windass, for help. She later confessed the truth to Todd Grimshaw, while her partner DC Kit Green tried to pin the murder on Gary.
Despite Kit's attempts to cover up her crime, Sarah confessed to DS Lisa Connor-Swain, claiming self-defence. She refused to involve Gary further, insisting her call to him was unrelated.
Bethany's prison visit sparks theory
In a recent episode, Sarah's daughter Bethany visited her in prison and seemed furious that her mother was behind bars for an accidental killing. Sarah mentioned that Carla Connor-Swain planned to visit, fearing she might lose her job. Sarah admitted she may not attend family gatherings for a long time.
Fans have speculated that Bethany's outburst might be because she is hiding something. @Audz32129841 tweeted: "After seeing Bethany with Sarah in the prison I now think Bethany's storyline is she killed Theo #Corrie. @maerlacqz0 suggested Bethany might team up with Kit to frame Gary, while @C70268211 added: "Bethany showing doubts about Sarah acting alone. I can see her teaming up with Kit to get Gary. There is no way Gary is staying out of this long term."
