Coronation Street fans are predicting that two former favourites could return to Weatherfield for Adam Barlow and Alya Nazir's wedding, following the couple's engagement this week.
Adam, played by Sam Robertson, proposed to Alya, portrayed by Sair Khan, at the Rovers Return. The couple first began their romance in 2024, but the relationship was paused when Alya left for work in Ireland. Off-screen, Sair Khan took maternity leave and gave birth to her first baby.
Months later, Alya returned to the cobbles and rekindled her connection with Adam, eventually moving in together. This week, the couple took the next step in their relationship, with Adam abandoning his elaborate romantic proposal plans to ask for her hand in marriage at the pub, surrounded by locals.

When Adam knelt down, the pub fell silent. A delighted Alya accepted as the establishment erupted in celebration, with Adam announcing: "The next round is on me."
With the wedding now on the horizon, supporters believe two former Coronation Street stars might return for the big day. Posting on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, viewers suggested Alya's grandmother Yasmeen (Shelley King) and Adam's uncle Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) could make a comeback.
"Yasmeen should definitely come back for Alya's wedding," said one person. Someone else added: "I thought that." A third chimed in: "What about Peter too?" Another viewer declared: "Oh 100% it's about time he comes back we miss him!!"
Characters' Histories
Yasmeen was last seen on the cobbles in March 2025, having first joined the soap in 2014 before departing to take up a new role at a London-based charity.
Peter Barlow, meanwhile, has been a fixture on screen since 1965 and is the son of Ken Barlow (William Roache). He has featured in countless dramatic storylines throughout the show's history.
He departed Weatherfield in December 2023, seeking a fresh start in Spain after struggling with his mental health following the accidental death of serial killer Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce), whom he tragically ran over. His marriage to Carla Connor (Alison King) had also reached breaking point, prompting Carla to purchase him a one-way ticket to Spain.
Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
