Coronation Street fans think they have rumbled Betsy Swain's devastating future amid ongoing theories about what the character's next storyline could be, after the actress who plays her teased what's ahead.
Betsy's arrival and recent storylines
The character, played by newcomer Sydney Martin, arrived in Weatherfield in 2024 as Sabrina Adetiba's mate. It was soon revealed that she is the daughter of DS Lisa Connor-Swain, and she has since been involved in several of the ITV soap's biggest storylines.
In April, Sydney told Digital Spy that viewers can expect a mixture of emotions to unfold between Betsy and Dylan Wilson. "Dylan and Betsy have been through a lot together," she said. "There's beautiful moments to come. They're polar opposites; she's this ticking time bomb that could go off at any time, and he's quite grounded and sweet. That can create some quite funny scenes, because there's that natural comedic element of them being so different, but also some beautiful ones. I'm also excited for Liam to get his chance to shine." She later added: "I've been working hard, so I'm really excited for people to see it. It's going to be a busy summer."
Betsy's exit plans
More recently, Betsy was heard plotting her exit from Weatherfield. After being confronted by a gang who mentioned the murdered Mason Radcliffe, an emotional Betsy spoke to Dylan, with the reminder about her former boyfriend's tragic death hitting her hard. She shared her plans to move forward before revealing to her best mate, Lauren Bolton, that she had been offered a place at a fashion college in London. She eventually broke the news to Dylan, who advised her to let her mum, Lisa, and her stepmother, Carla Connor-Swain, in on the move. Betsy built up the courage to announce the news, and while Carla was delighted for her Underworld protege, Lisa was more apprehensive.
Fan theories about a health crisis
New spoilers for next week's Corrie have since shared how Betsy heads to Speed Daal and tells Dylan that she wants to watch him while he works, as they need to grab every last minute they can before she moves to London. But fans are concerned that Betsy will be hit by an unexpected health dilemma that will stop her move. @carlaconnear said: "Betsy amnesia era you heard it here first." @Larafk83 commented: "My best guess at whatever this SL is for Betsy and Dylan is that it's drug related.
