Coronation Street fans are convinced they have uncovered the truth behind Gary Windass's secretive behavior, believing he is protecting his ex-girlfriend, Sarah Platt.
The former couple have not only raised eyebrows among ITV soap viewers but also among residents of Weatherfield, particularly Gary's wife, Maria Windass, who has noticed their growing closeness.
The pair have been openly defending each other, especially since the murder of Theo Silverton. The abuser was killed on the night of Lisa Swain and Carla Connor's wedding, with his body discovered by a horrified Betsy Swain.
Who Killed Theo Silverton?
A 'whodunnit' quickly unfolded, with six potential suspects: Todd Grimshaw, George Shuttleworth, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd, Gary Windass, and Danielle Silverton.
Viewers saw Summer charged with Theo's murder after evidence pointed toward her, and Tyrone Dobbs lied about seeing her on the night of the killing.
Last week, Sarah spoke to her boyfriend, DC Kit Green, who questioned whether Maria would lie to give Gary an alibi. Meanwhile, in the Rovers, Maria confronted Gary about his closeness to Sarah, prompting a defensive reaction.
Flashback Reveals Gary's Role
During Wednesday's (June 10) episode, a guilty Tyrone confessed to police about seeing Summer on the night of Theo's murder. Later, in the Rovers, Gary felt awkward as Theo's death was discussed. Kit followed Gary outside and reiterated that Gary remained his prime suspect.
Gary challenged Kit to 'prove it,' but his concerned expression betrayed his anxiety. A flashback showed Gary at the top of scaffolding holding a mallet, staring down at Theo's lifeless body.
However, Gary's earlier defeated comments to Sarah—asking why he had to be caught up in the web of lies—led fans to believe he is not the killer. Many now suspect Sarah, despite her being attacked by Jodie Ramsey on the same night.
