Coronation Street fans are predicting a devastating suicide twist for resident Marco Rhodes, played by Will Teasdale, after a series of traumatic events in the ITV soap.
Marco made his debut in September and quickly became Summer Spellman's (Harriet Bibby) new love interest following a difficult period for Summer, which included the death of Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank). The couple have faced challenges since getting together.
Marco's Arrest and Imprisonment
Recently, Marco was arrested after acting as a getaway driver while wearing an electronic tag. He was denied bail due to his previous offences and was sent to prison. Summer has vowed to stand by Marco and has enlisted the help of neighbours and solicitors Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) and Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) to secure his release.
In prison, Marco has become cellmate to Gary Windass (Mikey North). However, prison guard Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield) has targeted Marco and is determined to make his life miserable.
Fans Predict a Heartbreaking Twist
Ross has been tormenting and bullying Marco, and recently ripped up a letter from Summer meant for Marco, leaving him devastated. Now, viewers are convinced another heartbreaking twist is in store for Marco.
“Does anyone else get the feeling that poor Marco is going to commit suicide?” said one person on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page. Someone else said: “I did think that.” A third added: “100%”
Echoing their thoughts, another wrote: “Yes, I definitely feel that Ross will push him over the edge.” A fifth viewer also mused: “Not another Aidan please,” referring to Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward), who took his own life in 2018.
Fan Theory About Marco's Family
Another fan theory suggests Marco could be related to someone on the cobbles, with viewers suspecting he might be Glenda Shuttleworth's (Jodie Prenger) secret son. Glenda first appeared on the soap in 2022 as the daughter of the late Archie (Roy Hudd) and sister to George (Tony Maudsley). She has since become a firm favourite and settled into Weatherfield life, working as a barmaid at The Rovers Return alongside Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and owners Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) and Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker).
Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX. When life is difficult, Samaritans are available day or night, 365 days a year, free on 116 123 or at samaritans.org.
