Corrie fans fear Sally Metcalfe exit after Lucy clash

Coronation Street fans believe Sally Metcalfe could be facing a prison sentence after a violent clash with her niece-in-law Lucy Parkinson, sparking fears of an exit for the character who has been on the ITV soap since 1986.

Sally Dynevor's character has been a mainstay of Weatherfield for four decades, featuring in numerous major storylines from her relationships to battling breast cancer. In recent months, husband Tim's (Joe Duttine) niece Lucy (Anya Lewis) moved in with them after her father Richie (Nathan Sussex) was imprisoned for killing her mother.

Ghost Costume Clash

Tensions between Sally and Lucy have been escalating, reaching boiling point during Tuesday's episode (October 27). While home alone at No. 4, Sally felt anxious about the possibility of Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) having broken out of jail. During a power cut, she encountered someone dressed as a ghost and struck the figure with a flower vase.

When Tim returned home, he discovered Lucy bloodied, as she had been wearing the ghost costume that Sally hit. Spoilers for later in the week show a social worker arriving at their door, informing them that Lucy had rung her. Lucy then makes her exit, shooting a triumphant glance at Sally.

Journal Bombshell

The social worker, Ruth, reveals that Lucy has been keeping a journal in which she accuses Sally of being controlling and saying nasty things behind her back. Fans are now worried that Sally could be leaving the show following the altercation.

On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person said: "Wouldn't surprise me if Sally goes to prison for hitting Lucy." Another viewer added: "Another one behind bars then!" in reference to characters such as Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and Gary Windass (Mikey Northern) having recently received custodial sentences.

A third fan wrote: "I really hope not!" while another supporter added: "I think the same, she's going to get in trouble for sure." Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
