Corrie Fans Fear Betsy Death Twist After Cryptic Remark

Coronation Street enthusiasts are voicing growing concerns about Betsy Swain's fate after a seemingly innocent remark in recent episodes. The character, played by Sydney Martin, has become a central figure in the ITV soap since her debut in 2024 as Sabrina Adetiba's friend, later revealed to be the daughter of DS Lisa Connor-Swain.

Betsy's Recent Storylines

Betsy has been involved in several major plotlines, including discovering a neighbor's corpse on her mother and Carla Connor's wedding day. She is also set to feature in a 'coming of age' storyline with Dylan Wilson, portrayed by Liam McCheyne.

In Monday's episode (June 15), Betsy, Dylan, and Brody Michaelis tried to buy alcohol at the Rovers Return but were refused service by Sean Tully. Undeterred, they bought cans from a shop and headed to the precinct, where they were confronted by three intimidating youths who demanded their drinks. When the youths mentioned Betsy's ex-boyfriend, Mason Radcliffe, who died in a knife crime incident last year, Dylan and Brody defended her.

Betsy's Plans to Leave Weatherfield

In Tuesday's episode (June 16), Betsy confided in Dylan about the trauma of Mason's death and later revealed to her friend Lauren Bolton that she had been offered a place at a fashion college in London. She then told Dylan, who urged her to inform her mother Lisa and stepmother Carla.

In Friday's episode (June 19), Carla was thrilled for Betsy, but Lisa was cautious. However, fans believe Lisa's worries may be misplaced, as they suspect a darker twist is coming.

Fan Reactions to Cryptic Remark

During the episode, Betsy told her family, 'I love you both to death,' which sparked alarm among viewers. One fan tweeted, 'Betsy saying 'I love you both to death' made me feel two very different ways... my brain went straight to them foreshadowing something DRASTIC.' Another responded, 'I did the exact same thing... feels slightly too optimistic about the future.'

A third fan wrote, 'Betsy saying 'I love you both to death' I smell another attempted murder this Christmas #swarla.' Another added, 'I love you both to death' Na if we didn't get life support Lisa in Corriedale then I forbid you to go down this route with Betsy Corrie #Swarla.'

Coronation Street airs on ITV and is available on ITVX.
