Coronation Street has reignited calls for a deeper exploration of Lisa Connor-Swain's family background, following a scene where she stayed silent when colleague Kit Green mentioned his mother, Bernie Winter-Alahan.
Lisa, played by Stockport-born actress Vicky Myers, first appeared on the ITV soap in 2021, but it wasn't until early 2024 that she was confirmed as a regular cast member. Since then, her character has been at the centre of major storylines, including a relationship with Carla Connor, who fell seriously ill and saw the return of her jailed brother, Rob Donovan, before his departure during a siege at No.1 Coronation Street.
Lisa's Recent Storylines and Fan Reactions
The couple's relationship was further tested when Lisa's ex-wife, Becky Swain, returned from the dead after they got engaged and moved into No.6. Becky's exit led to a reunion, and Lisa and Carla became the first two women to marry in Weatherfield, more than 65 years after the show began.
Their marital bliss was short-lived as Lisa was drawn into a murder investigation following the death of Theo Silverton, and the couple were rocked when their teenage daughter, Betsy Swain, suffered a stroke. Now, Lisa is supporting Carla through the collapse of her business, Underworld, while also trying to help Kit as he undergoes treatment for breast cancer.
Fans Call for More Family Exploration
During a scene where Kit mentioned his mum, fans noticed Lisa's silence and took to social media to demand more about her family history. @TheConnorSwains tweeted: "Kit makes a comment about his mum and it’s radio silence from Lisa on hers. There’s some Swain family history there that #Corrie really need to visit! #Swarla."
@LadyReignFC suggested: "She's silent bec they haven't decided what her family situation was like yet." @Fake_TV_Chef added: "Piping Hot Take: With the show making Lisa one of their star characters (going from 5 episodes to the most appearances last year), they really need to flesh her out. Bring on her family, a backstory (besides HER) and give her friends outside of the No. 6 crew. #Swarla #Corrie."
@OhCanadiana replied: "Yes please!! There are so many juicy ways they could unpack the Swain mythology! I’d love to know a bit about her coming out, family ties, and and and……" @Izzy1728047 added: "As 2027 draws closer, i genuinely hope that one of the storylines, for it will be an exploration into Lisa’s past & a potential introduction to her family, there is a story to be told there #Swarla #Corrie."
