Coronation Street fans are calling for more behind-the-scenes bloopers after an on-set incident involving Maria Connor's pie scene led to a last-minute script change. During Thursday's episode (October 22), Maria, played by Samia Longchambon, confronted Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) in the Bistro after Sarah was found not guilty over Theo Silverton's death.
Pie Scene Goes Wrong
Sarah was celebrating her acquittal with family when Maria arrived and shoved a pie in her face. However, viewers didn't see that Maria was originally meant to slam a glass down on the table first, which didn't go to plan. In a blooper shared on Instagram, Maria slams the glass, which smashes, prompting Samia to swear and ask: "Was that a real glass? I'm so sorry."
A co-star joked about her strength, and Samia checked if those at the table were okay as the glass landed near them.
Script Amended After Incident
Speaking on Loose Women on Thursday, Samia explained: "We had to amend the script after that. It was a real glass, usually we have sugar glass, so I thought it could've been a sugar glass, but yeah, I don't know my own strength."
She also confessed to enjoying the pie moment, saying: "I loved it, I'm not going to lie. It's normally Maria, the one getting the pie in the face, so for once it was really enjoyable to just stick it to Tina (O'Brien). We had such a fun day at work, it was brilliant. It was quite nerve-wracking because I only really got one shot at it."
Fans Demand More Bloopers
Fans quickly responded, with many echoing the same request. One person said: "Love it, more bloopers to the people, please." Another wrote: "Oops. Would love to see more bloopers." Others added: "Keep the bloopers coming" and "Need bloopers for Saturday nights to watch! And maybe Sunday when Corrie isn't on on a Sunday! Corrie bloopers!!!"
Coronation Street airs weeknights on ITV1 at 8.30pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX.
