Coronation Street fans were left both baffled and concerned by what appeared to be a character change for Dylan Wilson as Betsy Swain's exit is set to be foiled. It was recently confirmed that this week, Betsy will be found collapsed on the kitchen floor of No.6 Coronation Street, before being rushed to the hospital as she fights for her life - and the finger of blame will be quickly pointed at her love interest, Dylan.
Betsy's Plans to Leave the Cobbles
At the end of last week, Betsy was seen ploughing on with her plans to leave the cobbles, having landed a place at a fashion college in London. During Friday's (July 10) edition of Corrie, she was seen spending some time with best mate Lauren Bolton and her son, Frankie. As Lauren spoke about how much she and Frankie will miss 'Auntie Betsy' once she moves down south, Betsy momentarily questioned her decision. "It's just dawning on me how mad this all is," she said. "It's scary, innit? And there's gonna be so much coursework. What if I don't have time for Dylan?"
Lauren replied: "What worrying about that for now? Just, you know, try and enjoy the time you have left with him." Betsy then commented: "You're making it sound like I'm on death row," to which Lauren said: "One day at a time, Bets. One day at a time." Corrie fans quickly felt like it was foreshadowing what's ahead for the teen.
Dylan's Sinister Undertones
Wanting to spend more time with Dylan before her move, during Monday's (July 13) visit to Weatherfield, after a disastrous attempt at cooking breakfast for Dylan, Betsy asks him for some cooking lessons. Heading to No.6, Dylan shows Betsy how to make a Bolognese and assures her that they’ll make their long-distance relationship work, leaving her with a smile as they hug. However, Corrie fans felt Dylan's intentions seemed more sinister, as he told Betsy: "I don't want you with anyone else," as he handed something over to her.
Fans didn't appear happy with Dylan. @DrSwarla2025 said: "After Dylan said to Betsy, he didn't want her with anyone else that's a red flag. Is he going to get obsessed with her and try to control her going forward. #corrie." @simplymrtv replied: "Yeah he seems awfully controlling for a bloke that has nothing to offer, that hasn’t had barely any relationship with her and is about as exciting as burnt toast."
Fan Reactions and Concerns
@Izzy1728047 commented: "Sorry but I found Dylan quite sinister here #Corrie #Swarla." @TheConnorSwains agreed: "It was weird and off!" @J_WBerry added: "I'm sure #Corrie didn't mean it, but Dylan saying he didn't want Betsy with anyone else gave shades of Theo threatening Todd in the kitchen. When telling stories, you need to be careful what you're mirroring, b/c this scene had unintended sinister undertones."
