Coronation Street and Emmerdale are taken off air again this evening as ITV reshuffles its schedules to make room for football. From 7.30pm, viewers will see coverage of the Carabao Cup match between Liverpool and Chelsea, with kick-off slated for 8pm.
Both soaps return tomorrow, Thursday, October 29, at their usual times. Emmerdale airs first at 8pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8.30pm. Episodes will also be available from 7am on YouTube and ITVX.
What's coming up on the cobbles and in the Dales
On Coronation Street, Lucy Parkinson (Anya Dewin) is up to no good as she reports Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) to social worker Ruth. Elsewhere, Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) and Carla Connor-Swain (Alison King) clash while Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) visits Marco in prison.
In Emmerdale, the aftermath of Thea Ramsden's (Chelsea Edge) stabbing leaves Kim Tate (Claire King) fearing the consequences of her actions, while Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) reels amid a revelation from Baby Tate's kidnapper.
Fans react to repeated schedule changes
This is not the first time the soaps have been moved to accommodate sports events. Metro readers have previously voiced their frustration over the decision to drop the continuing dramas. Some called for sports to be shown only on dedicated channels, while others suggested a new channel devoted exclusively to soaps. Some viewers said they did not mind as long as they received the same number of soap hours each week.
To make up for tonight's disruption, both soaps aired episodes on Sunday, October 25. Episodes remain available on ITVX and YouTube from 7am on the day of broadcast.
