Rob, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of Tina McIntyre, has been having a secret affair with prison officer Mandy. The pair are seen planning his escape, which takes a terrifying turn when Rob is shown in a hospital bed, vowing never to return to prison.
The tension escalates as Rob attacks a security guard and steals his uniform to blend in. In a chilling scene, he confronts Carla, who is recovering from a kidney operation, and threatens: 'I would die before I go back to prison. If that means taking someone with me... then so be it.'
DS Swain is seen in tears as she realises the extent of Rob's scheme. A TV insider revealed to The Sun that the episode will feature a hostage ordeal and a cold-blooded murder, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats.
Carla, played by Alison King, has been in hospital for weeks after suffering from sepsis. She underwent a kidney transplant in 2018 but now needs a new kidney, which Rob had offered to donate as part of his escape plan.
