Coronation Street actress Vicky Myers has expressed her disbelief after winning two awards at the 2025 Inside Soap Awards, just over a year after becoming a main cast member. The 49-year-old, who plays Detective Sergeant Lisa Swain, took home Best Actress and Best Partnership alongside Alison King (Carla Connor) at the ceremony on Monday night.
Myers beat Lacey Turner (EastEnders), Beth Cordingly (Emmerdale) and Isabelle Smith (Hollyoaks) to the Best Actress prize. Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, she said: 'I'm absolutely thrilled and it's surreal actually to think that just over four years ago I came in as a guest star on four episodes and then to be stood here now holding best actress award and best partnership award is surreal.'
The actress attributed Lisa's popularity to her relatable personality, describing her as 'broken and flawed' but able to mask it. She noted that Lisa's sexuality does not define her, and that the character's self-critical nature resonates with viewers. Myers joined the ITV soap in May 2021 on a recurring basis before becoming a regular in March 2024.
In November 2024, Lisa began a relationship with Carla Connor, Carla's first same-sex experience, and the pair recently decided to marry. Myers praised her 'work wife' Alison King, saying: 'She's absolutely incredible... to work with Ali and to have worked with her so closely for over a year now, it's brilliant.' The duo beat competition from EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks pairs for the Best Partnership award.
When asked about displaying her trophies, Myers joked: 'These are going everywhere with me. They'll be popping up on set in the middle of scenes, you'll be able to spot them. I don't know yet! But for now, they're just going to be - well, stuck to my hands!'
