Coronation Street's Carla and Lisa Wedding Plans Advance with Surprise

Carla Connor and Lisa Swain are set to tie the knot in Coronation Street next week, but their journey to the altar is not without drama. The couple, known as 'Swarla' by fans, will finally become the first Weatherfield women to marry, following a turbulent period that included the return of Lisa's ex, Becky Swain.

The week begins with Ryan Connor helping Carla with wedding plans at the Chariot Square Hotel. However, a call from a social worker brings bad news: Connie, the child they have been caring for, must return to her grandmother. Carla and Lisa say a sad goodbye to Connie before focusing on their big day.

As Lisa practices her wedding vows on Betsy, the teen is moved to tears. Carla admits she hasn't started her vows yet and asks Betsy for help. With vows sorted, the couple prepare for their hen dos. Carla's hen do at the Rovers Return features guests dressed as her, including Roy Cropper, while Lisa is spotted in the corner shop looking at meals for one.

Disaster strikes when Debbie Webster reveals the hotel's function room is flooded, forcing cancellation of the wedding. Ryan breaks the news to a heartbroken Carla, but Lisa hatches a secret plan. She tells Carla that Debbie has offered a free lunch, leading them to the hotel where Carla is surprised to see a wedding arch, with Ryan, Roy, and Betsy carrying the wedding outfits.

Lisa insists they don't need a ballroom, and Carla is thrilled. Betsy, Roy, and Ryan watch as Carla and Lisa walk down the aisle together, exchanging heartfelt vows and rings. The wedding day ends with a shock for Betsy, as she discovers a dead body on the cobbles, setting up a future murder mystery.
