Coronation Street promises more drama next week, with Rita Tanner and Mary Taylor taking a stand for Brian Packham after Maggie Driscoll puts her foot in it. Meanwhile, Lucy Parkinson remains unsettled in her new home with Sally and Tim Metcalfe, and Bernie Winter receives a major shock.
Rita and Mary defend Brian
In Wednesday's episode, Brian walks into the Rovers and overhears bar staff discussing him after learning that Maggie spent a night with him. Maggie brushes off their teasing, claiming the encounter was underwhelming and won't be happening again. Brian, dressed in his Sunday best and holding flowers, hears the tail end of the conversation and hurries off.
Rita and Mary waste no time in standing up for their friend, well and truly putting Maggie in her place. Maggie feels suitably bad about the incident, but it remains to be seen whether Brian will accept her apology.
Lucy faces questions
On Thursday, social worker Ruth calls round to talk to Lucy about living with Sally and Tim. Lucy insists she's happy, but her demeanour suggests otherwise. She quickly grows defensive when Ruth asks if she's spoken with the mental health team, and Tim steps in to mediate.
Calmer, Lucy assures Ruth that she didn't mean what she told the counsellor about Sally and Tim. As the meeting wraps up, Sally is eager to know if Lucy will be allowed to stay permanently, but Ruth asks to speak to Lucy alone first.
More challenges lie ahead for Sarah Platt next week, while Bernie Winter gets a major shock. Viewers will have to tune in to see how these storylines unfold.
