Coronation Street fans can rejoice as Lisa George, who plays Beth Tinker, has confirmed her return to the ITV soap after a hiatus. The actress, who has portrayed the character for nearly a decade, announced her comeback via an Instagram post from her dressing room on set.
In her social media update, George wrote: 'First day back at work.' She also apologised to fans who had sent letters, promising to respond as soon as possible. The star's return comes after she opened up about a health scare that left her partially blind in one eye.
Speaking to The Sun, George revealed that she 'haemorrhaged behind the optic nerve' four years ago, resulting in half-blindness in her right eye. She explained that doctors were unsure whether the cause was a mini-stroke or an accidental hit from a piece of rope, but the incident has not deterred her from returning to Weatherfield.
Beth Tinker, known for her bubbly personality and sharp wit, has been a staple on Coronation Street since 2011. Her return is expected to bring fresh drama and familiar dynamics to the cobbles. Fans will be eager to see what lies ahead for the beloved character.
