Arrest Looms for Theo's Murder
DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) has been informed that an arrest for Theo Silverton's murder is imminent in Coronation Street. The real killer, Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien), confessed to her boyfriend Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) days ago. Bent copper Kit, unwilling to turn Sarah in, instead plotted to frame Gary Windass (Mikey North) for the crime, believing it would solve his jealousy issues.
Lisa Steps Back Amid Family Crisis
Lisa has temporarily withdrawn from the investigation as her daughter Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) remains hospitalised after suffering multiple strokes, caused by pressure applied to her neck during sex by Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne). As Lisa and Carla Connor-Swain (Alison King) returned home, DC McLaughlin interrupted them, announcing a forthcoming arrest. Lisa reviewed a file and spotted Gary across the road, suggesting he was the prime suspect.
Sarah's Conscience Prevails
However, spoilers confirm Sarah will ultimately hand herself in. When Kit warns Sarah that Gary is about to be arrested, she panics about forensic evidence on her wedding outfit. Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) learns from Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) that Kit expects Gary's arrest. Yet evidence points directly to Sarah. As the Platt family films a birthday video for Audrey (Sue Nicholls), police ruin the moment by arresting Sarah for murder.
Reflecting on Sarah's relationships, Tina O'Brien said: 'If you had asked me six months ago, I would have said absolutely Kit is the right person for Sarah. But after everything she has been through with Gary, it’s complicated. Even though they never crossed a line, there’s a level of emotional support and care still there. It’s hard to know if there is still something more, or if they are both just blind to it.'
