Coronation Street fans believe they have identified the murder victim in the upcoming whodunit storyline, days before the episode airs. The soap's special flashback episode in February showed Betsy Swain discovering a dead body on the street, with five residents at risk: Megan Walsh, Theo Silverton, Maggie Driscoll, Jodie Ramsey and Carl Webster.
In Monday's episode (April 27), evil Theo broke into Todd Grimshaw's flat to terrorise him, but Todd managed to lock him in the bathroom with help from George Shuttleworth and escaped. When police arrived, Theo was gone. He was later seen getting out of his van, only to be surprised by an unseen character. Theo chuckled, saying: 'Am I supposed to be scared?' before the scene cut to the Rovers.
Fans now speculate the mystery person was fellow potential victim Carl Webster. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one wrote: 'Was that Carl that approached Theo? Could it be Theo who kills Carl?' Another added: 'I think they might threaten to expose each other and try and kill.' A third mused: 'I think Carl is going to kill Theo or Theo will kill Carl.'
Producer Kate Brooks previously teased the storyline, saying: 'We've got a special episode coming up mid-February... we discover that one of our characters has found a dead body on the street, and we don't know who it is. There are five potential victims and we'll take the audience on a journey to try and figure out who that body is.'
