Coronation Street has revealed the five characters who could meet a grisly end in April, as the ITV soap prepares for a flashforward episode set in 2026. The episode, airing in April, will show the aftermath of a murder, with police interviewing Betsy Swain about discovering a body.
The potential victims include groomer Megan Walsh, manipulative Theo Silverton, and twisted Carl Webster, who may face comeuppance. Also at risk are quirky landlady Maggie Driscoll and strange newcomer Jodie Ramsey, who harbours family secrets.
The flashforward episode begins on April 23, 2026, with Betsy Swain telling detectives she found a dead body after attending the wedding of her mother Lisa Swain to Carla Connor. As the story returns to the present, viewers see how each character's actions could lead to their death.
Megan continues to groom teen Will Driscoll, while Maggie provides a fake alibi for Will to protect him from charges. Carl has alienated everyone after letting Debbie take the blame for an accident that killed Billy Mayhew. Theo's coercive control over Todd intensifies as their wedding approaches, and Jodie's shady past threatens to catch up with her.
The episode ends with another flashforward to April 23, showing the five characters on the cobbles as fireworks light up the sky. A battered Carl, frantic Jodie, menacing Maggie, bloody-nosed Megan, and furtive Theo stare into the darkness before Betsy's scream is heard. Which resident will be the murder victim remains a mystery.
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
