Coronation Street viewers are convinced that Rob Donovan is set to make a dramatic return to the cobbles, following Monday's episode which revisited the character's past and the death of Tina McIntyre.
In the latest episode, newcomer Bobby, played by Britain's Got Talent star Jack Carroll, was horrified to learn that his father Rob had murdered Tina in cold blood, rather than in self-defence as he had initially believed. The storyline revisited the events of 2014, when Rob killed Tina after chasing her onto a balcony and attacking her with an iron bar.
Fans took to social media to express their belief that Rob's return is imminent. One viewer wrote on X: 'After all this talk tonight… Rob has to be coming back in 2024 he just has to be!' Another added: 'Should Corrie bring back Rob?' while a third simply said: 'Bring Rob Donovan back.'
The speculation comes as Jack Carroll teased a 'blockbuster' storyline for his character Bobby. Speaking to the Mirror and other press, the actor said: 'I only found out yesterday the kind of nuts and bolts of what the story is, and it's very, very exciting. I would even go so far as to say blockbuster.'
Marc Baylis, who originally played Rob, departed the role after his character was jailed for Tina's murder. He previously described the killing as an accident, saying: 'It is an accident – that wasn't his motive when he went into the flat. He's protecting his family.'
