Coronation Street fans predict Kate Connor return to save Underworld

Coronation Street viewers believe Kate Connor will return to take over Underworld, saving Carla Connor's struggling factory from a potential sale to Idris Nazir. The ITV soap's iconic knicker factory, a mainstay since 1997, faces an uncertain future as Carla admits the business is in decline.

Fans back Kate Connor to save the factory

On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, viewers predicted the return of Kate Connor, Carla's half-sister, to buy the factory. One fan said: "I think it could be Kate who saves the factory," with another agreeing: "Yes Kate!" A third added: "Can we please get a Kate Connor return!" while a fourth wrote: "Kate to return to help Carla and save Underworld!"

Kate made her debut in 2015 as the sister of Aidan and half-sister of Carla. Her time in Weatherfield involved significant storylines, including the tragic death of Aidan and her romance with Rana Nazir. In 2019, before they were to marry, Rana died when the Underworld factory roof collapsed. A heartbroken Kate then left the street, travelling in the Far East, with her last appearance airing on September 13, 2019.

Idris Nazir's plans for Underworld

In Thursday's episode (October 29), Idris Nazir told Leanne he plans to focus on buying the factory. However, Leanne warned him that Carla will never sell up. Underworld was first established by Mike Baldwin, with Carla taking over in 2007. Over the years, familiar faces including Hayley Cropper, Emily Bishop and Janice Battersby have worked there, while current machinists include Izzy Armstrong, Betsy Swain and Fiz Brown.

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
