Coronation Street Dinner Party to Reveal Theo's Murderer
Coronation Street Dinner Party to Reveal Theo's Murderer

Coronation Street has teased that explosive scenes are on the way with a dramatic new trailer set to expose various truths amid the murder investigation over the death of Theo Silverton.

Dramatic Dinner Party Ahead

The crime-heavy soap has been running a whodunnit storyline that came amid the murder investigation over the death of Theo Silverton. The evil scaffolder, who was played by former Tracy Beaker star James Cartwright on the ITV soap, was killed off at the end of the much-hyped Murder Week following a hard-hitting abuse plot and now the inevitable investigation is rolling on.

DS Lisa Swain, who usually locks up innocent people, wrongly charged Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) with murder, and now that she has been released, certain characters are set to come face to face over a tense dinner party.

Suspicions High

DC Kit Green, currently convinced that Gary Windass (Mikey North) was behind the murder, learns that his partner Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) has invited Todd and Summer over for a dinner party, and asks Gary and his wife Maria to come along as well.

Suspicions run high as Maria demands to know what has been going on, especially as she has started to suspect that Sarah knows more than she's letting on. Kit can be heard saying: "Something doesn't add up," but Gary punches the table as he says: "There's nothing to know." Maria then accuses Gary of having an affair with Sarah as he says: "I need to tell her."

A synopsis from ITV teases: "Join us for a dinner party with a difference on the cobbles next week when home truths are served and the tea is most definitely spilled."

The broadcaster has also confirmed that by the end of the dinner party, viewers of the world's longest-running soap will know exactly who killed Theo.

The hour-long episode will be aired at 9pm on Monday, June 22, but will also be available to stream on ITVX from 7am on the day of broadcast. Episodes have shown Kit pressing Gary for answers over his whereabouts, and Maria is also quizzed on her alibi which we know is fake. It's all pointing towards Gary being guilty.

Fan Reactions

But with the truth not being revealed until later on in June or July, surely it's too early for them to have their killer? Fans are suspecting Kit is going to risk the whole investigation with his issues with Gary.

A fan said: "Not saying Gary hasn't done anything suspicious, but Kit is not investigating for the good of the case or to uncover the truth. He's doing it because he doesn't like Gary and wants to pin it on him. Wouldn't that be a conflict of interest."

Another agreed: "Maria's right, Kit is harassing Gary at this point. Since Gary is Kit's girlfriend's ex that looks even worse. This is where a conflict of interest starts to matter and that's why Lisa reminded him that he has no proof. What happened to innocent until proven guilty, Kit?"

Yet another fan posted: "I also think Kit is pushing too hard, it's just making me think it isn't Gary at all. There's the affair theory and yes Gary may be linked to the death but I don't think he killed him, and Kit's harassment at this point is just proving that to me."

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX.
