Next week on Coronation Street, DS Lisa Connor-Swain makes a major arrest in the Theo Silverton murder case while her daughter Betsy Swain faces her life-changing diagnosis. Betsy collapsed and was rushed to hospital, and Brody Michaelis rounds on Dylan Wilson for spreading lies, insisting he would press charges. Ryan Connor tells Dylan some home truths, making him question his role in Betsy's condition.
Betsy's Statement and Recovery
Dylan visits Betsy and admits responsibility for her condition, apologizing profusely. When a police officer arrives to take Betsy's statement, a terrified Dylan hides. Lauren Bolton visits Betsy in the hospital, finding her struggling with physio exercises. Betsy needs the loo, and Lauren escorts her, leaving the teen deeply embarrassed.
In the café, DC Kit Green tries to quiz McLaughlin about Theo's murder case, but McLaughlin gives nothing away and eyes Kit suspiciously. Kit tells Sarah he is sure Gary Windass is about to be arrested, and she panics about her wedding outfit taken by forensics.
Sarah's Arrest and Confession
Maria hears from Fiz that Kit believes Gary will be arrested, but evidence points to Sarah. As the Platt family films a birthday video for Audrey, police arrest Sarah on suspicion of murder. Kit takes a call from Sarah at the station and reassures her. At the police station, Sarah swears she is innocent, but Lisa tells Kit that Sarah is their prime suspect and that he may be involved too. Lisa informs Kit they are charging Sarah with murder, and he should stop protecting her.
Maria confides in Gary that she fears the police will release Sarah and come after him, but Gary assures her she is panicking over nothing. Later, in the salon, Maria sees Sally Metcalfe's screensaver—a picture from Carla's wedding—and spots Gary in the background. She asks Sally to send the photo, then shows Gary, proving he was not at the builder's yard all evening as he claimed.
Todd's Confession and Exit Plans
Todd confesses to a shocked Summer that he knew Sarah killed Theo but didn't know at the time Summer was questioned. Kit tries to persuade Sarah to tell the truth about Gary's involvement. Later, Kit tears a strip off Gary for playing happy families while Sarah rots in prison, leaving Gary wretched. With Sarah behind bars, Kit struggles with parenting Harry, and Adam Barlow steps in to help. Maria makes it clear to Gary that she must retract her false alibi for him.
Gary begs Maria for another chance, swearing he loves her, not Sarah. Maria visits Sarah and rails at her for involving Gary in Theo's death. Sarah finally decides to come clean to a shocked Lisa about killing Theo. As Sarah's new statement reaches Weatherfield, Kit is shocked when Sarah reveals it was Jodie Ramsey who attacked her. Maria struggles to cope with Gary's involvement.
Other Storylines
Shona and David's joy at Harper coming home from hospital is short-lived when news of Sarah's admission reaches them. Nick, Toyah, and Leanne learn Sam Blakeman is also being discharged, but Nick worries about the effect on Sam when he finds out his Aunty Sarah has been charged with murder.
A courier delivers a parcel for Christina Boyd at No.11. Embarrassed, Christina admits to Todd she still hasn't controlled her spending. George Shuttleworth spies the parcel, but Todd covers for her, claiming it's his. Todd warns Christina he won't cover again and she shouldn't keep secrets from George. Christina assures him she will mend her ways. Todd confides in Summer that Christina is still spending money she hasn't got and hiding it from George; Summer warns it could end in disaster.
Todd tells James Bailey he plans to give away Theo's life insurance. Christina tells a skint George that their luck is about to change because Todd will give George a share. Later, Todd and Summer reveal they've booked flights to Thailand for tomorrow to visit Eileen and Jason.
In the Rovers, Ollie Driscoll reveals he's been offered a job in Brighton. Masking her feelings, Lauren tells him it's a great opportunity. Ben answers a call on Ollie's phone from the restaurant in Brighton, informing him that Ollie missed the boat and the job is filled. Leanne offers Ollie the job of chef at Speed Daal, and he gratefully accepts.
