Coronation Street and Emmerdale Crossover Promises Multiple Deaths

Fans of Coronation Street and Emmerdale are speculating that a major character death will occur in the upcoming crossover episode, dubbed 'Corriedale'. The special episode, set to air on January 5, centres on a multi-vehicle pile-up on a dark and stormy country road near the village of Hotten, with dramatic consequences linking the two soaps.

Among the characters confirmed to be involved in the crash are David Platt, played by Jack P Shepherd, and his pregnant wife Shona Platt. A recently released trailer shows Shona screaming in desperation while being supported by Emmerdale's Charity Dingle, leading fans to fear for David's life. Social media posts have expressed concerns, with one user stating, 'David's dead', and another warning of consequences if the character is killed off.

The crossover will also feature other iconic characters, including Coronation Street's Tracy Barlow, Carla Connor, and DS Lisa Swain, alongside Emmerdale's Aaron Dingle, Cain Dingle, and Charity Dingle. The episode is part of a new 'soap power hour' scheduling pattern, with both soaps airing half-hour episodes nightly from 8pm.

Unlike usual practice, the hour-long Corriedale episode will not be released early on ITVX, but will air exclusively on ITV at 8pm on January 5. Earlier half-hour episodes of each soap will be available on ITVX from 7am that day.
