A final-year journalism student named Amelia has won £72,000 on the BBC game show Michael McIntyre's The Wheel, prompting an outpouring of joy on social media.
Amelia had sat out most of the show while the other two contestants were randomly selected to compete. When she finally got her chance, host Michael McIntyre asked what she would do with the money. She revealed she wanted to start her own publication focusing on mental health.
After answering just three questions correctly, Amelia secured the bumper prize. Viewers took to X, formerly Twitter, to celebrate. One user wrote: 'Omg 72.000 pounds. Amelia. Congratulations #thewheel.' Another said: 'YES YES YES!!!!! What a fantastic win for Amelia. She's just won £72k!!!! #TheWheel.'
In the final round, Amelia had to team up with the celebrity who performed worst that night, fashion stylist Gok Wan. When she decided to go for the top prize, Gok said 'I feel sick,' but she reassured him. The category was Gods and Goddesses, and they answered correctly.
After the win, Amelia said: 'This is so massive and I can do so many things and change a lot of things. This is amazing.' Michael McIntyre's The Wheel is available on BBC iPlayer.
