Clarkson's Farm Series 5: Release Date, Cast, and What to Expect
Clarkson's Farm Series 5: Release Date and Cast

Jeremy Clarkson's hit series Clarkson's Farm is nearly upon us, with the programme's executive producer disclosing that the show will venture into darker territory. The streaming service offered a first look at the highly anticipated fifth series back in April, with Kaleb Cooper, Jeremy Clarkson and Lisa Hogan ready to get stuck in once again.

What to Expect from Series 5

Executive producer Andy Wilman revealed what audiences can anticipate from the forthcoming instalment, explaining: "As the series goes on, things take a turn. In the final episodes it becomes much heavier, and more emotional than anything we've seen before. In many ways it's the most personal series yet, not because Jeremy wants to make it about himself, but simply because of circumstance. When the series opens, he's side-lined with a heart problem, and that shapes everything that follows."

As Clarkson navigates his own personal health struggles, political pressures and more, here is everything you need to know about series five.

Release Date

Regrettably, the series will not be dropping all at once, as it has been split into three parts like previous series. Here is the full release schedule for the new episodes:

  • Part one - June 3
  • Part two - June 10
  • Part three - June 17

Viewers will have to wait a week between each episode being released. The synopsis states: "Clarkson's Farm is back, and amidst a government budget that sends the UK farming community into uproar, Jeremy decides some big changes are needed to make the farm run more smoothly. But while the farm tries to go high-tech - resulting in Kaleb's first ever trip abroad - even bigger developments are heading for Diddly Squat that are going to prove much more of a challenge."

Episode Count

In keeping with the format of earlier series, the fifth season will comprise eight episodes. The first four will drop in a bumper launch on 3 June, with the following two episodes landing on 10 June. The final two episodes will then air a week later on 17 June.

Cast

All the much-loved regulars will be back, including Clarkson, Hogan and Cooper, alongside land agent Charlie Ireland and Gerald Cooper. Charlie Ireland spoke about his standout moments from the upcoming season, saying: "In this series, there were some genuinely strong moments, like going to London for the march. I do think objective argument and discussion are things that bring communities together. I'm also still very keen on Jeremy's idea of the cooperative supply through the pub. I think it's brilliant, and it's developed really well. I think, by the end, it all brings the farm together. It's quite a dramatic final stretch."

Future of the Show

Clarkson himself has suggested the programme is likely approaching its end, having previously told Radio Times he would stop making new series "when there are no more ideas". He added: "But I've got two quite good ones, so we'll do [season] six and then we'll see." While Clarkson has pledged to produce a sixth series, it may well prove to be the show's swansong.

Producer Wilman explained the programme would only carry on while Clarkson maintained his passion, telling the Extraordinary Life Stories podcast: "You can't do that thing where you make one film or one series too many and people say, 'No, this is b*****ks now,' it's a busted flush. So you have to discipline yourself to go, 'We end this now while we still have an audience.' The same will have to happen with the farm. I don't know when that is because you've got to remember it's Jeremy's show. It's his show because it's kind of his baby."

Clarkson's Farm season 5 premieres on June 3.
