Claire Danes on Her Third Pregnancy
Earlier this year, Claire opened up about her unplanned third pregnancy on Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast. She recalled having a meltdown when she found out she was expecting at age 44. 'I called my OBGYN in convulsive tears. It was a pure meltdown,' she shared. Claire and Hugh have three children: sons Rowan, 13, Cyrus, seven, and a two-year-old daughter whose name has not been publicly revealed.
She admitted, 'None of this was by design. I didn't know it was physically possible. I was 44. And actually, Rowan was very hard-earned. I had to do two rounds of IVF.' Despite the initial shock, she gushed about her daughter, 'And then this beautiful girl emerged and she's the best, and none of it was up to me and I'm just delighted.'
On the SmartLess podcast in November, she described her last pregnancy as an 'oopsy daisy third baby.' She said, 'I was so old when that happened. I was 44. I didn't think it was possible! I really didn't. I was terrified but all was okay.' She added, 'Suddenly I felt like a funny shame. I was naughty. I had been caught fornicating past the point I was meant to.'
Claire also shared her sons' reactions to the pregnancy. Cyrus 'was sort of resigned to it,' while Rowan was 'categorically opposed.' Rowan suggested giving the baby to a family without children, but Claire convinced him by explaining his role as a big brother.
