Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins is reportedly set to take on a guest hosting role on Channel 5, filling in for Matt Allwright this week and appearing on Jeremy Vine's show the following week.
New Role on Rival Channel
The ITV newsreader will temporarily switch channels to cover for Allwright, according to reports. A source told The Sun: "It's a great step for Charlotte and shows just how much she is valued at 5 and trusted to step in when needed." The insider added: "She's a huge talent and there is lots of exciting things coming up for her. She's still got her ITV work but is very in demand and open to pushing herself."
Career Milestone
This marks the first time Hawkins has hosted a daytime show on Channel 5. She brings extensive experience from her previous role co-presenting Sky's Sunrise programme alongside Eamonn Holmes before joining GMB. Despite her new commitments, she will remain in her role at ITV.
Other Ventures
Hawkins also hosts the podcast Leaps and Hounds, focused on canine behaviour, and a show on Classic FM. She is married to Mark Herbert, 50, and the couple celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary in 2023, having married on August 23, 2008, at Chichester Cathedral. Their wedding was attended by fellow presenters Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes.
Mirror has contacted Hawkins' representatives for comment.
