BBC One's Casualty aired a heartbreaking episode on Saturday night, leaving viewers devastated as beloved character Dr. Rash Masum learned of his father's tragic death. The F1 doctor, played by Neet Mohan, had been struggling to care for his father Ashock, who suffers from dementia.
In a tense storyline, Rash left his father in the care of colleague Rida Amaan after Ashock became abusive and locked himself in his room. However, while Rash was at work, Ashock wandered off and was involved in a bus accident. He was brought into the emergency department by paramedic Dylan Keogh, but sadly died from his injuries.
Rash broke down in tears upon discovering the truth and lashed out at Rida for failing to keep watch over his father. The emotional scene left many fans in tears on social media.
BBC bosses have confirmed that Killing Eve star Manpreet Bachu will join the cast as Rash's cousin Tariq Hussein later this year. Speaking about his role, Manpreet said: 'Joining BBC Casualty is both an honour and an absolute privilege. I’m thrilled to be a part of such an iconic show.'
The episode also comes ahead of the departure of original character Charlie Fairhead, played by Derek Thompson, who will leave the show after 37 years. Executive producer Jon Sen promised his exit storyline would be 'brilliant'.
