A new three-part documentary series airing on BBC Two tonight delves into the astonishing true story of a casino bomb plot from 1980. The first episode recounts how a ticking timebomb containing 1,000lb of dynamite was wheeled into Harvey's Wagon Wheel Casino in Lake Tahoe, accompanied by a ransom note demanding $3 million (£2.2 million).
The bomb was so sophisticated that it baffled bomb squad members, with one recalling that 'all the usual techniques were thrown out of the window'. The series promises a heart-racing exploration of the event and the man behind it.
