The 2026 Met Gala took place on May 4 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, with the theme 'Costume Art' and dress code 'Fashion is Art'. Co-chairs included Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams, alongside Anna Wintour. Beyoncé made her first return to the event in a decade.

Saint Laurent’s Anthony Vaccarello and Zoë Kravitz co-chaired the Host Committee, joined by Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Gwendoline Christie, Alex Consani, Misty Copeland, Paloma Elsesser, LISA, Chloe Malle, and Teyana Taylor.

Highlights included Emma Chamberlain in a multi-coloured custom Mugler gown, Nicole Kidman in a sequinned red Chanel dress, and Charli XCX in a strapless black Saint Laurent gown with a flower adornment. Cara Delevingne and Claire Foy also impressed. Gwendoline Christie carried a mask of her own face by artist Gillian Wearing, while Sudha Reddy wore a necklace valued at over $15 million.

Curator Andrew Bolton described the theme as exploring the dressed body, stating: 'The dressed body is front and centre... Even the nude is never naked.' Sabrina Carpenter wore Dior by Jonathan Anderson, with her dress made from film reel from the 1954 film Sabrina. Olympian Eileen Gu wore an Iris Van Herpen mini dress featuring 15,000 glass bubbles that blew actual bubbles.
