British talent has made a strong showing in the 2025 Emmy nominations, with the Netflix hit Adolescence earning 13 nods and several UK actors recognised across major categories. The awards, announced today, feature a historic lineup that includes the youngest ever nominee in a supporting actor category.
Adolescence, which follows the aftermath of a schoolboy murder, received nominations for its actors Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty, Ashley Walters, and 15-year-old newcomer Owen Cooper. Cooper becomes the youngest actor ever nominated in the limited series supporting actor category. The series, recently Netflix's second most watched English-language show, competes in the best limited series category alongside The Penguin, Black Mirror, Dying for Sex, and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
In the drama categories, Gary Oldman received a best actor nomination for Slow Horses, while Sharon Horgan is up for best actress for Bad Sisters. The Apple TV+ thriller Severance leads all nominations with 27, including best drama series, where it will face Slow Horses and other contenders. British actor Jason Isaacs also earned a nod for his role in The White Lotus, which scored 23 nominations overall.
The comedy categories saw The Studio, a Seth Rogen-led satire, break Ted Lasso's record for most nominations by a freshman comedy with 23. Meanwhile, Harrison Ford received his first ever Emmy nomination for Shrinking. Notable snubs include Renée Zellweger for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy and Keira Knightley for Black Doves.
The 2025 Emmy Awards will take place on 14 September, hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze. Last year's big winners included Shōgun, Hacks, The Bear, and Baby Reindeer.
