Simone Ashley, best known for her role as Kate Sharma in Netflix's 'Bridgerton', has been cast in a new BBC adaptation of an Agatha Christie story. The 29-year-old British actress will join the ensemble of the upcoming drama, though details of her character remain under wraps.
Ashley rose to prominence in 'Bridgerton' season 2, where she played the headstrong Kate Sharma opposite Jonathan Bailey's Lord Anthony Bridgerton. The role was a reimagining of the character Kate Sheffield from Julia Quinn's novel 'The Viscount Who Loved Me'.
Prior to 'Bridgerton', Ashley appeared in Netflix's 'Sex Education' as the mean girl Olivia Hanan, and had roles in ITV's psychological thriller 'The Sister' and the BBC drama 'Strike'. She also voiced a character in the animated film '10 Lives' and played Ariel's sister Indira in Disney's live-action 'The Little Mermaid'.
The BBC has not yet announced a title or air date for the Agatha Christie project, but it is expected to be a major drama event.
