Bridgerton Star Recounts Cannes Party Collapse Scare

Bridgerton actress Genevieve Chenneour has described the terrifying moment she feared for her life during a rooftop party at the Cannes Film Festival. The 28-year-old was attending an event hosted by Variety magazine at the La Terrasse by Albane pop-up restaurant in the JW Marriott hotel on Wednesday night when a loud bang prompted guests to flee.

Chenneour told the Daily Mail that she initially thought it was a terrorist attack. 'There was this massive bang and the floor almost gave way on the rooftop. We ran out screaming. It was the scariest thing I've ever experienced,' she said. 'I was convinced it was a terrorist attack or that the ground had fallen through.'

The actress, who was wearing heels and a dress, ran down the emergency exit stairs. 'I was like, we're going to die. The whole ground shook beneath our feet,' she recalled. 'Some people were right by the edge. That must have been terrifying because the floor did actually move.'

According to a report by the New York Post's PageSix, guests heard a 'crunch of metal' and the structure shook violently. One party-goer described the scene as 'f****** terrifying', with people scrambling to escape. Another guest said the noise came from a seating area made of plywood that cracked and broke, but no one was hurt. The party was moved to the other side of the roof.
