In the finale of Bridgerton Season 4 Part 2, Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Beckett (Yerin Ha) finally overcome the obstacles keeping them apart. The season’s central conflict revolves around Sophie’s illegitimacy and her reluctance to marry a gentleman, fearing the social complications it would bring to their lives and any future children. So it has meaning in that way, and then it also has meaning about her direct lineage.” This symbolic object replaces the Blind Man’s Bluff scene from Julia Quinn’s novel An Offer From a Gentleman, where Benedict identifies Sophie by her face.

With help from Eloise (Claudia Jessie), Sophie discovers her father left her a dowry and stipend, countering Araminta’s lies. The season ends with a white lie: Sophie is legitimised as a daughter of Penwood House, a plot point from the book orchestrated by Violet.
Lady Alice Mondrich (Emma Naomi), overhearing Benedict and Sophie’s conversation, enlists Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) and her husband Will (Martins Imhangbe) to petition Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) to reshape society and accept their union. The finale sets the stage for future seasons, balancing multiple siblings’ storylines as the series continues.
