Hulu has officially ordered 'The Testaments', the sequel series to 'The Handmaid's Tale', to series. Production is set to begin on April 7. The drama, based on Margaret Atwood's 2019 novel, takes place in Gilead more than 15 years after the original story.
Elisabeth Moss, who starred as June Osborne in 'The Handmaid's Tale', will executive produce and may guest star, reprising her role. The final season of 'The Handmaid's Tale' premieres on April 8.
The cast includes nine new actors: Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Birva Pandya, and Kira Guloien. Alexander plays Garth, a young Commander involved in the personal lives of the girls he protects.
The story follows a new generation of young women in Gilead, who have known no other life. They face marriage and servitude, and must find allies to fight for freedom.
Previously announced principal cast includes Chase Infiniti as Agnes, Lucy Halliday as Daisy, Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia, Rowan Blanchard as Shunammite, and Mattea Conforti as Becka.
Bruce Miller is showrunner and executive produces alongside Warren Littlefield, Moss, and others. Mike Barker will direct the first three episodes. The series is produced by MGM Television.
