Boyzone members Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, and Shane Lynch made a surprise appearance on Tuesday's BBC Breakfast to announce a final concert at the Emirates Stadium in London next year. The trio shared the emotional news live on air, marking the end of an era for the iconic Irish boy band.
Ronan Keating explained that the band never played stadiums during their heyday, and this concert is a chance to write the final chapter. "It's heartbreaking without Steo (Stephen Gately), but to kind of write this final chapter," he said. Keating clarified that the band is not reuniting or making new music, but rather celebrating their journey with fans.
Keith Duffy described the event as a celebration and a party, featuring all of Boyzone's hits and some surprise guests. "It's us boys, one last time on stage together," he said. The announcement comes after the band's documentary, which focused on grief and acceptance following Gately's death in 2009.
When asked about healing, Ronan admitted, "I don't know if you heal. I think you put a Band-Aid on it and you crack on." He added that being together makes them feel closer to Stephen, making the upcoming performance both special and difficult.
