The popular BBC legal drama The Split, starring Nicola Walker and Stephen Mangan, is set to conclude after its upcoming third series. Creator Abi Morgan has explained that the show was always intended to have a three-arc structure, focusing on the legacy of a marital split affecting the protagonist Hannah, leading to her own relationship split and subsequent marriage split.
Morgan described the end as 'conflicted' but expressed pride and excitement for the final series. Nicola Walker, who plays Hannah, admitted it was 'difficult' saying goodbye to her character and on-screen family, noting the emotional weight of filming final scenes with co-stars.
Walker assured fans that the ending will be satisfying, praising Morgan for crafting a conclusion that respects every character. 'In my head, they're all getting up and going on with their lives when the credits roll,' she said.
The third and final series of The Split premieres on BBC One on 4 April 2022 at 9pm, with previous seasons available on BBC iPlayer.
