Beyond Paradise will return for a fourth season on BBC One and iPlayer on Friday 27 March at 8pm. The new episodes follow DI Humphrey Goodman and Martha Lloyd as they settle into married life after their Christmas special wedding.
Sally Bretton, who plays Martha, told Radio Times that the couple's strong relationship is a highlight. 'They genuinely love each other, they're thrilled to be around each other,' she said. 'Martha and Humphrey are very respectful, but still have lots of fun.'
The new season sees the pair house hunting, with the property they choose requiring extensive renovation. 'We go house hunting and the place we settle on needs a worrying amount of work, so they get stuck into that with various capers and disasters,' Bretton explained.
Returning cast members include Kris Marshall as Humphrey, Sally Bretton as Martha, and Phil Daniels as fisherman Marvelous Harris. Eva Feiler reprises her role as nurse Lucy Thompson, alongside new guest stars.
The official synopsis teases cases involving a novelist who predicted their own death, a Dark Morris celebration gone wrong, a stolen treasure map, and a vengeful mermaid sighting. Meanwhile, Humphrey faces 'an impossible decision that may change the lives of everyone at the station forever.'
Season 3 ended with Humphrey and Martha saying goodbye to their foster child Rosie, as her mother was ready to care for her again. It remains to be seen whether the couple will pursue adoption or welcome another child in season 4.
