Benidorm Cast Reunites, Sparking Fresh Reboot Rumours

The cast of the beloved ITV comedy series Benidorm has reunited for a dinner, reigniting speculation that the show may be revived. Actress Sherrie Hewson, who played Joyce Temple-Savage, shared a photo on Instagram showing her alongside creator Derren Litten, Jake Canuso (Mateo), and Danny Walters (Tiger Dyke). The caption simply read: 'The Team.'

Fans were quick to express their excitement, with comments such as 'Don't tease. Is it a sign?' and 'This is why we need Benidorm back and NOW.' The reunion comes seven years after the show was axed in 2018, following 10 series and 74 episodes.

Rumours of a reboot first emerged in April, when a TV insider told The Sun that ITV bosses were in early talks to bring the show back. The source said: 'Benidorm was adored by millions when it was suddenly cancelled. Fans will be thrilled to hear ITV wants to bring it back. An 11th series hasn't been commissioned yet, but there's major excitement building as early talks begin.'

Benidorm aired from 2007 to 2018, becoming ITV's longest-running comedy. At the time of its cancellation, Litten said: 'Crazy to think Wednesday will be the last episode of Benidorm! I created the series over 11 years ago... It’s difficult to think what else there is to do!' A source added that ratings had dropped and several fan favourites had left, leading bosses to feel the show had 'run its course.'
