Bella Hadid has been making waves at the Cannes Film Festival, both on and off the red carpet. The 29-year-old supermodel was spotted enjoying the French Riviera on a luxury yacht on Friday, May 22, in a barely-there white thong swimsuit that left little to the imagination.
The swimsuit featured dramatic cut-outs and string ties wrapped around her bronzed body, taking her fondness for 'naked' dressing to new heights. Hadid shared photos of her excursion on Instagram Stories, including one where she bent over the railing while looking through binoculars, putting her derrière on display.
Earlier in the festival, Hadid stunned in a custom Schiaparelli couture gown for the screening of 'La Bataille De Gaulle: L'Âge De Fer'. The plunging ivory gown, hand-embroidered with trompe l'oeil lace by 130 artisans over 22,000 hours, was an updated silhouette of a style worn by Jane Birkin in 1969. She also wore a custom Prada satin column gown in pearlescent gray for the 'Garance' screening.
Despite these more modest looks, Hadid soon returned to her risqué roots, stepping out in a sheer, sequined top from Australian vintage reseller Preluvd, which exposed her nude bra beneath. She paired it with camel flared cropped pants and accessories from Coach, Gucci, and Jimmy Choo.
In 2025, the Cannes Film Festival introduced explicit dress code rules, prohibiting nudity and voluminous outfits on the red carpet. A statement read: 'For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the red carpet... Voluminous outfits... that hinder the proper flow of traffic... are not permitted.' The festival warned that access would be denied to those not respecting the rules.
