The BBC has unveiled a first look image from the upcoming third series of the critically acclaimed thriller The Capture, starring Holliday Grainger as Rachel Carey. The new season is set to premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in spring 2026.
Created, written, directed, and executive produced by BAFTA-winning Ben Chanan, the series is produced by Heyday Television, part of Universal International Studios. The new picture shows Grainger reprising her role as Carey, now Acting Commander of Counter Terrorism Command.
The plot picks up 12 months after the events of series two, where Carey broadcast a live deepfake of a government minister, exposing the secret Correction programme. Amid an inquiry into its unlawful use, she aims to restore public trust in surveillance through the new Operation Veritas camera system.
However, a brutal and coordinated act of terror strikes at the heart of the British establishment, leaving only one witness. As Carey investigates, she is drawn into a geopolitical crisis that infects politics, security services, and media, with a conspiracy reaching deep into the state.
Further casting and transmission details will be announced in due course. The six-episode series is directed by Anthony Philipson, Johnny Allan, and Ben Chanan, and produced by Derek Ritchie.
