BBC's The Capture Season 3 First Look Revealed

The BBC has released a thrilling first look at the highly anticipated third season of its critically acclaimed spy thriller, The Capture, sending fans into a frenzy. The new series, which boasts an impressive 96% audience rating, is scheduled to hit screens in Spring 2026.

Returning Faces and New Additions

Holliday Grainger reprises her lead role as Rachel Carey, who finds herself in a dramatically elevated position. She is joined by a host of returning cast members, including Indira Varma as Newsnight presenter Khadija Khan and Ben Miles as Danny Hart.

The new season also welcomes several high-profile additions to its ensemble. Killian Scott from Dublin Murders and Joe Dempsie, famed for his roles in Game of Thrones and Skins, are among the new faces. They are joined by Andrew Buchan, Hugh Quarshie, and Amanda Drew.

A Deepening Conspiracy

The plot picks up 12 months after the explosive events of season two, which saw Carey broadcast a live deepfake that exposed the UK intelligence service's secret 'Correction' programme. Now, as an Acting Commander of Counter Terrorism Command, she is determined to rebuild public trust through a new surveillance system, Operation Veritas.

However, her mission is violently interrupted by a brutal and well-coordinated terrorist attack targeting the British establishment. With only one witness, Carey's investigation pulls her into a dangerous geopolitical crisis that infects the highest levels of the British state, the security services, and the media.

As the conspiracy deepens and allies become scarce, the series promises to explore what sacrifices Carey is willing to make to uncover the truth.

Behind the Scenes

The six-episode series is created and written by Ben Chanan and produced by Heyday Television. Reflecting on her return, Holliday Grainger said she was "thrilled to be joining The Capture team once more" and praised Chanan's "electrifying" scripts. Newcomer Killian Scott added that he felt "incredibly lucky to be joining the team" for what he described as a "special" modern espionage thriller.

After a four-year wait since the second season aired in 2022, The Capture season three is set to premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in Spring 2026.
